If you plan to arrive before BRANA 31 begins and/or stay after it ends, you will need to do a double-registration. You can register for the BRANA Campout, July 20 – 22, from this Web site. However, the dates before and after the campout need to be reserved through Natural Chimneys or the Augusta County Parks & Recreation Department.

On Fridays from noon – 6 p.m. or Saturday & Sunday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., call the Natural Chimneys Visitor Center at 540-350-2510.

Monday – Thursday during business hours, call the Augusta County Parks & Recreation Department at 540-245-5727.

Make sure that you have the same campsite reserved throughout your stay. Payment is required at the time you make your reservation. Credit and debit cards are accepted.

Clean-Time Countdown at BRANA 24

The BRANA Campout Planning Committee is looking for someone to shoot video at BRANA 31. We plan to create a short video about the campout to be posted on this Web site.

This video will be a resource to “facilitate greater communication and interactions among NA members,” as outlined in the NA service pamphlet Social Media and Our Guiding Principles. “With NA’s public image and the anonymity and privacy of our members at stake, it is crucial that those of us who choose to use these resources take great care in doing so.”

Therefore, the video must be shot in a manner to protect each NA member’s personal anonymity, in accordance with NA’s Eleventh Tradition and the insight of the Social Media pamphlet.

Serenity Circle Following the Friday Night Speaker Meeting at BRANA 27

As of March 31, 2012, BRANA 31: Without Parallel has registered 108 campers. Seventy-seven campsites have been reserved (48% of Natural Chimneys 159 campsites).

Note: An earlier registration update listed the number of campsites at Natural Chimneys at 144; however, that post neglected to count the 15 primitive campsites in the J-Loop.

Saturday Morning Speaker Meeting at BRANA 28

At the BRANA Campout, we seek to maintain an atmosphere of recovery. In order to protect NA members seeking recovery and the welfare of this event, we feel that we should establish some boundaries and guidelines.

“In our respect for other members, we must not allow any individual to prevent a group from creating an atmosphere of recovery,” according to the NA Service Pamphlet Disruptive and Violent Behavior. This pamphlet is directed to NA groups; however, we believe the principles and strategies outlined apply to the BRANA Campout.

The pamphlet includes this word of caution: “Sometimes, NA members who attempt to address a disruptive situation cause just as much of a disturbance as the initial disruption.” With this in mind, we will hold individuals accountable for disruptive behavior, including parents if their children are disruptive.

This is not meant to give the campout committee license to attempt to control other NA members. We simply ask everyone who attends the BRANA Campout to help us establish and maintain an atmosphere of recovery, not only during NA meetings, but throughout the weekend.

Saturday Morning Speaker Meeting at BRANA 29

During February, 30 people registered for BRANA 31 – Without Parallel, to be held July 20-22, 2012, at Natural Chimneys Campground in Mount Solon, VA. That brings the total to 95 people who have registered since online registration was activated in mid-January.

Sixty-seven campsites have been reserved; that’s 42 percent of Natural Chimneys’ 159 sites. The campground has 144 campsites with electrical and water hook-ups and 15 primitive sites.

Sunday Morning at BRANA 30

We recently heard from Natural Chimneys management that some work has been done during the camping off-season.

This includes an upgraded water filtration system, two acres of wildflowers and wildlife food plots under the trees by the chimneys and a swing set in the J-Loop. The campground staff has also done extensive trail maintenance and removed some old slash piles.

As of the end of January, 65 campers have registered for BRANA 31 and 45 campsites have been reserved.

Online registration was activated on January 15.

At the risk of repeating what you’re already heard, the BRANA Campout made an appearance in the January 2012 issue of NA Way magazine. Photos from the campout were featured in “Picture This.”

This is the second time the campout has been in NA Way; the first time was the October 2005 issue.
